The New Museum of Contemporary Art by Sanaa

nm3.jpg

The New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York by Sanaa has rejuvenated breathed a new life into the very static cultural scene of Big Apple. Conceived by the talented Japanese duo Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa of Sanaa, the structure is rebellious and artistic. The museum that opened earlier this month, is the city’s only museum devoted exclusively to contemporary art.

The Zen-like structure is as beautiful as the artwork it houses. The seven-story, 60,000 square foot structure is a glimmering metal mesh-clad stack of boxes shifted off axis in a dynamic composition. Clad in a silvery, anodized expanded aluminum mes, windows and skylights offer panoramic city views. The New Museum is already a landmark in Lower East Side.

Here’s a link to a more comprehensive review of the museum in New York Times.
